Landlords Direct Tenants to Minnesota’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program, RentHelpMN

Landlords should be aware that RentHelpMN has been recently implemented. The program, which is now open for applications, makes it possible for low- and moderate-income renters to get caught up on overdue rent and utilities dating back to March 13, 2020. It also makes provisions for those at risk of falling behind on rent payments due to the pandemic.  This program will help both Landlords and Tenants to avoid evictions.

Renters can apply directly or learn more about the application process by visiting renthelpmn.org or by Toll Free: 1.800.543.7709; Local: 651.291.0211 (multilingual staff available to answer questions).

Your renters must demonstrate Income eligibility based on 80% of the median income in your area, and it varies by county and number of people in the household. You may have to run down your tenants and encourage them to apply, but, the payoff for both Landlords and tenants is obvious.  See:
