For the Time Being, Landlords Can Breathe a Sigh of Relief on Rent Control

As the Legislature is on the verge of voiding Governor Walz’s  Executive Order 20-79 which created an eviction moratorium in Minnesota, Landlords that feared a rent  control provision can relax—for now.  An initial version of the bill winding its way through the legislative process  contained a provision that limited rent increases to 6% every 12 months.  Although nothing is certain until the bill passes, the version now being contemplated is only an eviction moratorium phaseout.
